If you can't go to China — we bring China to you.
Join us from your couch, kitchen table, or anywhere in the world.
You open Zoom on Saturday + Sunday morning (9 am Berlin Time). One host welcomes you live from Berlin — your moderator. Another welcomes you live from Shanghai — your eyes on the ground.
Your Shanghai-host walks the streets with smartphone, camera, gimbal in pocket: live from a coffee shop, a crosswalk, a mall. Your Berlin-moderator puts what you see in a bigger context — economic, cultural, geopolitical.
Curious about that QR sticker? Let's walk over and scan it. Question for the barista? Let's ask her. A live, interactive weekend with other like-minded people — not a one-way broadcast.
Curated and hosted by Long & Nannan — each with 10+ years exp. of leading China tours and running workshops.

Born in Shanghai. Now living and working in-between Shanghai and Berlin. Two cities, two rhythms, two value systems. Spent the last year capturing everyday-life moments in China — to see what values are shifting.

Designs and leads China tours for global teams visiting China. And when she's not leading tours, she's travelling across Asia — or documenting Shanghai (since 2019).
LinkedInMost China content is a one-way broadcast. This is the opposite.
Hello from Berlin (Long) and Shanghai (Nannan).
Get coffee from a robot barista. On-site interviews with the people around. Theory Snack: How people in China embrace new technology in everyday life.
A short look into office hours in Shanghai. Theory Snack: China's 996 work culture — and what young workers actually want today.
Grab something to eat (pay by handpalm or face), walk through a modern Shanghai mall. Theory Snack: How the country went so deeply digital, so quickly.
Small breakout rooms — share what stood out, what you'd take home, and what you'd want to know more about.
Welcome to stay and commute home through Shanghai with us.
Hello again — let's pick up where we left off yesterday.
A walk through a tier-1 park. What do people actually do during leisure time? Theory Snack: The shifts in consumer culture.
Order live and let a drone ship the food. Then call a driverless ride, narrated from the inside. Theory Snack: Are drones and robotaxis really everywhere now? What is China's future-tech focus actually betting on?
A walk through "Hema" — Alibaba's bet on "new retail". Order your groceries via the app and see how 30-minute delivery actually works. Theory Snack: How everyday infrastructure quietly transforms.
Small breakout rooms — share what stuck across the weekend, and what you're taking with you.
Welcome to stay and commute home through Shanghai with us.
* For Co-Design to work, we need ~2 weeks runway before the event to prepare. More on Co-Design in the FAQ ↓
No. The whole workshop is in English. When we interview people on the street, we translate on the fly. Nannan is bilingual CN/EN, Long is trilingual CN/EN/DE — and both speak Shanghai dialect :)
A printable 2-page workbook you fill out during the workshop. 1 page per day, with spot-the-detail prompts for each walk. You take it home as your record.
A 45-min Zoom call before the workshop weekend. You tell us what you specifically want to see, ask, or explore in Shanghai (a particular topic, neighborhood, type of robot, payment system, anything). We give our best to weave your input into the live walks and theory bites — so when we walk through Shanghai, you're walking through your questions, not just our agenda. It's also a way for us all to get to know each other a bit before the live weekend.
We use Zoom (link in your booking confirmation). Nannan broadcasts live from Shanghai with phone + camera; Long moderates from Berlin. Join from anywhere in the world. We test the stream beforehand and have a backup plan if the connection wobbles.
You'll get the recording within 48 hours as a backup. Both live days are self-contained, so if you can only join one, you still get a full arc. That said — the live magic (asking on the spot, breakout rooms, fellow travelers) only happens when you're there. The recording is a souvenir of the trip, not the trip itself.
Yes — same content, same agenda, same hosts. Pick the date that fits your calendar.
Yes — we offer a team experience or watch-party for groups of 10+ people. Message us and we'll work out something good for everyone.
Most China content is curated, edited, and one-way. Live is the opposite. Here's the contrast:
Pre-recorded: someone else decides what you see. Questions wait in comments, often no answer. You watch alone, then move on.
Live walk-along with us: you suggest what to focus on. Live Q&A on the spot — a two-way conversation with workshop-style depth. You walk with like-minded people and stay connected.
Shenzhen is only around forty years young; almost entirely modernity. Beijing is more political. Shanghai (because of its history) gives you both — old China and new China — in one weekend. Plus: it's Long's actual hometown, and Nannan has lived there for 10+ years. We know (almost) every hidden corner.
P.S. We're already working on hybrid events for other Chinese cities and rural places. If you want to hear about them first, write us a short note and we'll set you up.
Full refund up to 14 days before the event. After that, we can transfer your spot to the next date or to someone you know.
Plus our "Don't like the first morning? Get your money back" promise: Email us after Day 1 and we refund 100%. No questions asked.
DM us if you have any questions, or just want to share your thoughts. We reply to every one of you.
